Groups Dashboard Widget cannot be removed

Hi,

I removed all the groups from the dashboard Groups widget and am now left with an error message "We're sorry, this feature didn't load quite right" and a sad face.

There is no settings button and no obvious way I can remove this widget from my dashboard.

Any help greatly appreciated.

  • Why not just remove the whole dashboard, and (re)create a new one in its place without the Groups widget?

The one shown in your screenshot only has three widgets (other than the Groups widget) that you have to recreate, and you could probably have done that in the time it took you to start this thread and make a post about it, objectively speaking.

It was only a small representation of the whole dashboard, but thanks, you are correct, I think that is the easiest way to solve the problem.

    Cheers
  • For what it's worth, I'm unable to reproduce what you described.

    • Add a Groups widget to my dashboard
⇒ The widget has a cogwheel icon in the top right corner, and the Remove option in the drop-down menu under it
    • Join a group
⇒ The Groups widget now shows that group (being the only group to which I belonged)
    • Leave the group
⇒ The widget returns to showing ‘Find a Group’ with no error message, but still has the cogwheel icon and the Remove option.

Try (in a new dashboard that you can delete easily)

    Create a group
    Add group to group widget
Go to Groups and delete the group you just created and have displayed
Now groups widget has no cogwheel icon and cannot be removed.
  • Create a group

Ah. Thanks for the follow up. I'm not inclined to go that far with my experimentation; last time I really went out of my way to test something, I ended up with notifications that (Garmin has confirmed in this forum) I cannot remove. However, I'll be happy to assume you've tried it several times and outlined a repeatable procedure for triggering the anomaly regarding the presence of a cogwheel icon in the widget, in case anyone working for Garmin is interested in investigating.

As far as I'm concerned, the ‘moral’ of the story (and I'm half-joking) is: don't create a group. I'm simply not the type of guy who wants to take the initiative socially in terms of forming groups.
