Can't find your device... ugh.

A few days ago my phone and Garmin VivoSmart HR quit connecting. I have restarted my phone and the device, checked the bluetooth on both (they are on) and forgot both devices in the phone and Garmin Connect -- they still wont connect to each other. My Garmin Connect says, "Can't find your device" even after the device has given me a number to pair with my phone and it's in pairing mode. Any suggestions??? At this point I'm ready to exchange it for a different one.
