Isn't there a way to import Routes (gpx or tcx) to garmin connect web?

The question is not how to import a gpx route to my device... I want to see it online in my garmin connect web interface (https://connect.garmin.com/modern/)
any ideas?
  • I hope that one day it'll become possible to directly import a course as a course

it's possible now , but unfortunately it's not straightforward: you have to import your gpx as an activity and then convert that activity to a course.

(then afterwards: delete the activity and also delete it from your synchronized accounts such as strava etc...)

    How do you do that?

On the main (or any) screen in Garmin Connect, there's a blue circle with a white + sign in the top right corner. Click it, then choose the second option, "Import Data". At the resulting screen you can drag and drop a file or point the browser to the file location. gpx and tcx files are both supported, as are fit files directly from your Garmin GPS.

I took my Chromebook with me on a cycling trip in Europe a few months ago, Garmin Express does not run in Chrome OS, so I used this method to import my ride files directly from my GPS into connect. That way they were safely stored in the cloud each day, in case the GPS was lost or stolen, etc.
  • I'm sure that's possible but it wasn't the question. It was: how do you import a TCX file as an activity and then convert it to a course? I know about the little blue button, but If I try to import a TCX I get a download error. If I download a GPX file it disappears.

I got the file into my Garmin edge 1000. I can see the route but I want to edit it in Garmin connect.

Unfortunately, it seems even this function is broken at present.

I am trying to load a route for the Etape Caledonia into my Garmin Connect profile. Using the "Explore" functionality of Garmin connect provides no elevation data. Importing a TCX file from BikeRouteToaster gives an error message. Importing a friends activity from Strava using .GPX gives no error....but the activity simply never appears.

Really, this is basic functionality that I think Garmin's customers are entitled to expect to be able to use. It's pretty shameful that they continue to tinker with the apps and device firmware, adding bloat and (as far as I can tell) rarely-requested features, instead of fixing these basics.

    EDIT: Double post.
