Insight reports.

Despite Garmin connects regular rejection of some of my floor count the Insights comparison chart is currently very flattering to me for my steps, floors, and running data. Anyone have any idea how this is calculated? I am a bit suspicious because the step curve is so smooth. and has almost the same shape across all ages. I'd expect to see a little peak around 10,000 steps because of all the focus on walking that number. And I do wonder how they treat people who only wear their device when they run or cycle. Also I'd be curious to know how representative this is of the general population as people who consistently wear a fitness device are probably more likely to be focused on fitness.

I do like the feedback element but it would be useful to have a bit more information on the makeup of the data.
  • I agree that more background is required for all insights that compare you with an age group or gender. Specifically, is this data only representative of Garmin users, or is miles/week on Garmin devices combined with data from say Strava? Also, it would be statistically meaningful to add the sample size to the legend on graph. Am I being compared to one thousand or one million people?
