Treadmill Running Elevation data

does anyone know if there is a way to get treadmill running to calculate elevation?

i.e. if i run on the treadmill, on a 10% incline, have the watch on 'run indoor', how can i get it to calculate my my elevation gain?
(so it's included in my process report)

Do I need a foot pod?

Have fenix 5 FYI.
  • as you are not changing your elevation, you won't get any change in the elevation shown.

On watches with a baro, it looks for a change in air pressure, and without a baro, it uses GPS to get elevation.

The thing you might see is a higher HR, and higher calorie burn as a result, but that's it.
  • That sounds like a good project for someone to develop an IQ-Connect data field.
  • SO. It looks like there may be a way.

I have a vivosmart HR. It has a barometer so it knows I have not climbed any elevation. This is deliberate so it can tell actual stairs and hills. Some hikes I have not even noticed the natural incline but it was enough to register.

My treadmill displays how much I climbed so I use that value. I don't include it in my data as my treadmill is Apple compatible and I haven't tried to figure out how to integrate its data.

I've thought about how much I want the climb data from my treadmill marches to be included. On the one hand they do effect my heart rate so they do get included in the intensity minutes. On the other hand stairs taken have a daily goal and are graphed for insights. As long as I know it tracks actual elevation changes and that's why it does not register inclination on the treadmill I'm not surprised by the result.

Can you see that pencil icon next to the activity name? :p
