Elevation showing strangely low values

I am puzzled by the following,

I run a hill that is 24m heigh, the lowest point is effectively at 0m (sea level), on this hill I run hill repeats constantly up and down and that for several hours.

Here an example:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1628694703

If I upload the GPX to a site powered by Google Maps the altitude profile of the route says that the altitude gain is 522,10m and the altitude loss ~523:
Which is what I assume it is when you climb 24m around 20 times.

But Garmin Connect (and other programs and apps) show a very different metric, namely 80m.

What does this figure actually mean? If it were measuring the highest point only it should be 24 and not 80. Or more importantly: Is it possible to get the real result from climbing several times up a hill with the FR220? What metric would this be? Does the Fenix 3 / 5 series support this (something like accumulated climb in barometric altitude measurements).

Have you tried turning off "Elevation Corrections" ? You will then be seeing GPS elevation data rather than map data.

In answer to your question re barometric altimeter measurements, Garmin devices with these do not use Elevation Corrections by default and so should give you the information that you want
