Activities table HR values - how to interpret?

Hi everyone,

I am having trouble with the Garmin Connect website. When I log on and go to the Activities table (by clicking on any "Activities" heading) I get a range of data from all of my recorded activities which I can then export to CSV/excel.

The 2 problems I have are:
1) My Avg HR and Max HR fields range from 0.9 - 5.5. How do I translate these numbers into actual heart rates?
2) You can only export the part of the table you are viewing. It would be easier to export all of it and then trim it back then it would to essentially do a screenshot and then cobble them together.

Also, any tips on making the swim counter more accurate? Is it because I stop for a break that it overcounts the distance? At the moment I enter swims in as a manual activity but I bought the Vivoactive HR because I could use it as a swim watch as well as everything else I use it for.

Cheers,
Tim
  • What you are seeing for HR is the zones. If you look at a individual activity you see the HR listed and you can select it to dispaly in BPM, % of Max HR or Zones.

To see what the zones are you can go to Device, Device Settings, User Settings. When you setup the watch it will setup default values, but you can change them.

And you can change the Activity App Displays to display any combination of those HR values along with some others such as % of HR reserve.

However I don't know why the activity page is showing HR in zones. Mine displays in BPM and I don't see any option to change it.
  • You change the way heart rate is displayed on Garmin Connect under Head and Shoulders > Settings. I just tried this and got it to display in zones. I use BPM, so I changed it back.

Oh wow, that's great information. Thanks very much to you both.

I have been able to change the way the Activities table shows heart rates from zones to bpm which is exactly what I wanted to do!

I did this via the head and shoulders > settings and it worked straight away.

I think I will change my heart rate zones as my resting rate has always been 50 compared to the usual 60 same as my dad's.

    Thanks again :D :D :D
