Trimming activities after saving

After stopping my stopwatch some minutes after a run, it should be possible in Connect to trim from the end so that all the statistics are updated.

At the moment, you can update the run duration & distance, which updates the pace

But all the really important information, particularly time in zones etc. are untouched.

Why should it, just because you made a mistake (and, yes, it's only human to err)? You should be commensurately as careful about stopping and saving your activities at the right moment as you feel having the correct statistics is really important, instead of unilaterally delegate some of the responsibility for remedying your mistakes to Garmin.

Anyway, keep asking if you want:

but I don't think it'll be happening any time soon, especially if nobody is offering a convincing or compelling reason for the “should” part.

Whether Strava, SportTracks or any other fitness tracking platform offers such a feature is irrelevant, especially if users of the Garmin Connect service (like both you and me) are not paying Garmin a subscription fee that the company would stand to lose. It's not as if we're going to move to Strava-branded devices on the richness of features of that platform.
  • You could try using one of the many FIT file tools on the web or post in the sticky thread at the top of the page.

fitfiletools.com has a tool to let you trim the end off a workout. Not sure if it updates everything but it's worth a try.

That would be a nice feature and very easy to implement. All we're talking about is selecting a point and deleting all data before it, or all data after it, depending on what you wanted. Basic stuff, really...

And, as has been pointed out, there are already applications and cloud-based fitness tracking/analysis services in the market that offer the feature. The O.P. specifically wants it in Garmin Connect, and his/her preference (due to minimisation of costs, inconvenience and/or operational complexity, I suppose?) is what stops him/her from accessing the feature and achieving the desired functional outcome today.

Wow you are a cheerful person. Just an FYI it's called a feature request and presumably listening to customers is how many grown up companies improve and expand.
