Temperature stopped appearing on activity map

Since March 7th, the temp/weather info balloon no longer appears on my activity map. Any insights on this? I found no other threads when I searched on "temperature" or "weather". I use a Vivoactive HR for running. I have only had it for a couple months.

    Here's another: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?346118-Weather-information-no-longer-showing-up-on-garmin-connect&highlight=weather&p=956109#post956109

I had a quick look at my last half-dozen runs, and the weather is showing for (only) five out of six activitives (including the most recent one, from yesterday) as a ‘balloon’ on the map. However, the most recent four all showed a temperature of 22.2°C, and I don't quite believe that to be accurate – at least not for all of them.

I use a Forerunner 630, so I don't think the issue is device model specific.
  • Whether you have weather or not depends on where you are in relation to your nearest international airport.

But having said that, I checked some of my data and my runs from Friday and yesterday don't have weather, whereas prior activities in the same area did.
  • Curiouser and curiouser

I went for another run this morning, and after uploading the activity data for it to Garmin Connect, I can see that there is weather info displayed for it.

    However:
    • Weather info is missing for my run on Wednesday, 8 March in both the Garmin Connect Mobile app for Android and Garmin Connect online (i.e. viewed in a browser).
    • Weather info is missing for my run on Thursday, 9 March in the Garmin Connect Mobile app for Android but it is shown in Garmin Connect online.
  • Maybe it has to do with what GC is using as a source for weather data for a specific country, etc. I'm in the US, and don't the bubble it in activities for the last few days, and I'm in the same locations as I usually am. (the airport is fairly close - maybe 10 miles)

    Temerature also dissapeared

I last had temperature displayed on the 2nd in the UK and trained next in Lanzarote for a week. There are no further displays of weather including on a sesion I did today back in the UK.
  • Ditto

Last run to have weather "bubble" is Monday, March 6th. Didn't run on Tuesday.
Missing on runs since Wednesday, March 8th.
Have not moved and runs in the same areas I always run.

We have received reports of the temperature information missing from some activities in Garmin Connect online and in Garmin Connect Mobile. This has been escalated to the Garmin Connect team for further investigation.

The Connect team is still working on this issue, but a potential workaround that can be used in the meantime would be to change the privacy of the activity to Everyone. This causes the weather information to appear upon refreshing the page. The privacy can then be changed back, and the weather information will be retained.
  • Joseph, thank you for the update. When you say “potential workaround”, does that mean it may or may not work and the Connect team isn't certain? It is not working for me, and I've tried changing the privacy setting to Everyone in both the Garmin Connect Mobile app and Garmin Connect online.

Used 'potential' because, at the time of this post, the root cause has not been determined, but we have seen instances where changing the privacy allows the data to appear. It worked on my account, but as you experienced it may not work for all accounts. Just wanted to provide some more information on a workaround option. Knowning that it doesn't work for all users is information that we are passing along as well.

Thank you for responding and providing a link to the activity.
