Quick edit in activities, progress summary in reports, goals

I have a few tickets open with Garmin support and the responses have been to my mind unsatisfactory. I reported that once they put the searching on activities, the Quick Edit link no longer works in the Chrome browser; their answer was to use a different browser (without saying what they support). Quick Edit does indeed work in Firefox, but then in Firefox, the progress summary report no longer appears in Reports. So I'm apparently supposed to use different browsers depending on what functionality I'm after. I also had reported that when setting Goals, 'any activity type' is no longer an activity type selection. It used to be, and you can still select that in the progress summary report (provided you're on a browser that even shows that report), but you can't select it for goals. The first two responses (two months apart) from Garmin on goals said that developers were looking into it and a fix would be in a future release. This morning's response said it was a design change. Ha! To me that's code for "we can't or don't want to fix it". Or else they simply lied when they said someone was looking into it before. Overall I find the support to be fairly useless. If they are going to make design changes are those even announced anywhere?

My Garmin Edge 500 is dying anyway - a different issue, battery is finally going and OF COURSE it isn't meant to be user serviceable - so I plan to switch to a different vendor/product. Suggestions welcome. I was going to buy the replacement battery and fix it myself, but now I think I'll just chuck it in the trash and be done with it.
  • On Windows 10, Garmin Connect with Firefox has many functions that do not work. Unless there is a known issue across all browsers, IE 11 or Chrome is your best bet with Windows 10 OS. I stopped using Firefox a while ago, but have reinstalled for the sole purpose of testing user complaints regarding lack of functionality.

In the case of the quick edit feature, several forum members have reported that it does not work in Firefox but does work in Chrome. I have confirmed this is the case for me on Firefox. Clicking the Quick Edit link does nothing. On Chrome it does what it's supposed to do. Strangely, the opposite of the issue you're reporting.

If you're having unusual issues in Chrome, I suggest clearing the browsing data...
Settings >> Advanced Settings >> Clear browsing data >> from the beginning of time >> tick all check boxes >> Clear browsing data
    Restart Chrome then try again

    Browser compatibility isn't hard

I'm not using Windows 10, and I've already cleared the browsing data multiple times, on both Chrome and Firefox. If you're only going to support certain browsers on certain OS's, you should state that somewhere on the Connect page. My husband and I are both software developers and worked for years on web-enabled databases and other web apps. Browser compatibility is not hard. It seems to me this is something that Garmin just isn't committed to putting enough resources into to ensure a decent customer experience. It's a pity because the hardware (e.g. Edge) isn't bad, but I'll be looking for something else going forward.

Thanks, don't entirely mean to rant, just frustrated with the official support. I appreciate your assistance.
