How difficult would it be for Connect to have a "manual sync" option per activity?!

Seriously would it be that hard?!

Every now and again technology just will have a little spat then get over it. Like the GWS outage today for example. So when something like that happens at the same time my Fenix syncs to my phone (successful) then my phone tries to sync to Strava (failed), I end up with Garmin device & app thinking everything sync'd just fine but it never made it through. The only option is to export to a file then manually upload that- why oh why oh why can't they just stick in an option for manual sync?! On the phone app as well as Connect website. First world problems and all that I know...
  • Equally, one (who, even as a fellow Garmin customer and product user, does not have to necessarily side with you by default) could ask, how difficult is it – technically and operationally – for you to export to a file and manually upload that, when you've already identified and understood the workaround that works for you? Requiring time and effort, and being inconvenienced and annoyed, doesn't make it any more “difficult” than for a business to have to invest resources on implementing something that doesn't make it more money.

I'm not a big fan for designing for failure scenarios, especially when the risk of the occasional failure affects the party responsible for (or commissioning) the development of the system very little. If Garmin itself is going to be greatly inconvenienced or even suffer financial loss when the interoperability of platforms fail occasionally, then I can see why you would think there is good reason for it to invest in workaround mechanisms that are easy and quick which minimises the impact.
