I'm getting this error with any GPX file I try to upload via Garmin Connect, can anyone help?

  • If you are trying to re-import an activity to 'repair it' or return it to 'unedited' conditon... you need to delete the old activity off of your account. This weekend Garmin Connect was really messed up - I had to delete and re-import two of my activities (out of three). Both times I had to delete the activity twice - to make it really go away!

Otherwise you will can't import it....and add it again (so have two of the same activity loaded onto your acccount) [...without doing some creative writing in the .fit file].

I always import .fit files that have been copied from my watch to the computer... or I 'export original' from GC (giving a fit file also, iirc).

I'm trying to upload .gpx files of a route I want to ride, so I can follow them.
  • In which case you need to look through the forum for the numerous threads that discuss problems with uploading courses/routes and try the solutions suggested.

Unfortunately, Garmin error messages, like others, are not always indicative of the actual problem being experienced.

I get the same message, but, cannot see/find the imported activity. Hence cannot delete. BTW - My scenario occurred when I tried to import a gpx file exported from ridewithgps.com and converted from GPSies. I would get errors, then at some point it gave me the msg that t is already imported.

I have a similar problem trying to import ".fit" files into my new Garmin connect account. I was migrating my activities and other sensor data to a new account. The problem is gone, once I have deleted the old account from which I have exported the data. I think Garmin uses a global identifier to avoid duplicate entries of the same data via multiple accounts.

[...without doing some creative writing in the .fit file]

    What would that be?

I don't want to delete the original activity. Instead, I'd like to edit the .fit to make Garmin Connect recognize it as a new activity.
I guess there's some ID I need to find and edit.
