Garmin Connect Time Zone Funkiness

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed something amiss with certain things not syncing to Garmin Connect on the right day?

Since I first started syncing my weight readings from either Fitbit or Withings I have noticed that it has been pulled in on the wrong day. Let me preface by saying that I live in Central Australia where the time zone is GMT + 9:30. At the moment we have Daylight Savings, so add another hour to that, so I'm at GMT + 10:30.

I weigh myself pretty much every day, first thing in the morning. At the moment I use a Withings WiFi scale and the readings are sent automatically to the various other sites I use (TrainingPeaks, SportTracks, Strava, MyFitnessPal and Garmin Connect). I also pull the data manually into Golden Cheetah. Every site I use manages to get the timestamp correct EXCEPT Garmin Connect. It's been bugging me for ages and today I observed something that might explain it.

If I log on to Garmin Connect via the website in the morning (at say 7:00), the calendar shows the correct day. When I check it on Garmin Connect Mobile (iOS on iPhone SE, both app and phone up-to-date) it shows the previous day.

Today is the 25th. Garmin Connect showed the 25th. Garmin Connect Mobile showed the 24th.

I had this thought that it might be time zone related, so I waited until 10:30. Garmin Connect still showing the correct day (25th). I refresh my Garmin Connect Mobile app by closing it and re-opening it and hey presto! Garmin Connect Mobile now showed the correct date (the 25th).

I did try setting Garmin Connect back to GMT, but it reverted to my default time zone of Central Australia (South Australia) at GMT + 9:30. As I type this I've tried it again and it seems to stick. I'll try leaving it on GMT and see what happens tomorrow (Sunday). The only non-GPS data that comes in is from my scale. Everything else comes from either my Forerunner 230 or my Edge 520.

Having now identified when things change for me, it would be interesting to see if there are others with the same problems. I'd be interested to hear whether it is restricted to certain time zones, or is it just me?
  • Setting the time zone to GMT on Garmin Connect doesn't stick. It goes back to Central Time - South Australia. Must happen when I sync my 230.

Similar problem here...my weight data is pulling from MyFitnessPal and applying to tomorrow sometimes. It's not consistent on when it does it. Really frustrating when the weight is recorded directly from my Index scale...
  • I have the same issue with index scales this week
Each weigh in is essentially show as yesterday's weight when I weigh in each morning
  • OtterJohn, what time zone are you located in? Do you observe the same behaviour I do on the calendar tab of Garmin Connect Mobile?

I get my weight to Garmin Connect via MyFitnessPal. When I had the Fitbit scale, I had to manually sync Garmin Connect to pull my weight readings in. I was also using a Fitbit One as Fitbit was set as my step source in MyFitnessPal. When I switched to the Withings scale and I still was using the Fitbit One, same deal - manual sync via Garmin Connect to pull my weight readings in.

When I changed to using my 230 as an activity tracker and I set the step source in MyFitnessPal to Garmin Connect, everything then happened automatically. My step details sync across correctly. Weight is on the wrong day, always behind.

Exactly the same issue - when I first bought my scale just before Update Version 3.0 I had no problems but now the weight is always a day behind. I have hard reset my Index scale today and there is no difference.
Someone mentioned in an earlier thread that their weights which came in from MFP/ Fitbit always went into the next available slot (i.e. day before) if they had missed a day. This seems to be similar in a way as there is always an ' empty'' slot as the Index weight comes in a day earlier every time ...

I have tried weighing in the evenings and the weight comes in on the correct date however this is a pain as I work until 9.30pm and am at my heaviest when I get home.

I am in New Zealand so we are GMT + 12 with daylight saving at the moment. My Garmin mobile shows the correct date although for some reason yesterday my watch showed my partner as on Days Off on 01/03/2017 when my calendar on my phone did not (he was off 27/2 and 28/2/17) so I have also hard reset my Forerunner 235 yesterday.

I'm thinking of raising a ticket - to me I think it may be related to the 3.00 update as I had a few days at the beginning without it and this issue would be only about a week old ...

I have just experimented by entering a manual weight for 02/03/2017 then weighing myself again - the Index scale has sent the new weight to yesterday 01/03/2017 again despite a weight being entered for today ....

    Similar issue here.

I am on EDST (+11GMT). I jumped on the scales this morning at 6:30 and recorded my weight. In my calendar on Connect Mobile, it shows the correct date, with my weigh in on the correct date. However when I go to Health Stats > Weight, this mornings weigh in is listed as yesterday (11 March 17). This is the same for both Garmin Connect and Garmin Connect Mobile.

I have checked my time zone in Garmin Connect and it is listed correctly.

Anyone able to figure out what is causing this issue and how to fix it? I don't believe it's always been like that, have only noticed the past week or so.

I raised a ticket the other day
    Garmin are looking at it
I have been on v3 since I had the scale and it did originally put weight into right day
  • It seems the change from Daylight Savings on the weekend has thrown up some new problems. They manifest themselves on the iOS app, but appear mainly correct on the website.

Firstly, my wake time today is out by an hour. On the app it says 05:46, but I know it was 06:46 when I put my watch on this morning. My activity doesn't start until then as I can see a gap of an hour there on the app. My step data on the website starts at the correct time (06:46). It looks like it was the same yesterday.

I did a ride yesterday starting at 08:02 going for just over four and a half hours. This ride appears on both the day I did it (Sunday) and the day before in my Garmin Connect Mobile calendar, but is correct on Garmin Connect. The event that I created to mark this ride shows up on the correct day on the website, but in Garmin Connect Mobile, also shows up on the day before. The ride spanned the time that my Garmin Connect mobile calendar changes date (now 09:30).

My 230 correctly adjusted itself to daylight savings without me having to do anything. I have given it a GPS lock to be on the safe side.

    Same problem here also.

It appears from what I can work out my it's seeing mid day as midnight and visa versa.
  • ramcd,

It really sounds to me like you set your time manually and mixed up AM and PM.

Set it to automatic either by GPS or from your phone/pc.
