Connect not transferring plans to training calendar (it thinks it is though)-FIXED

Please help me.... please... I need to get some sleep!
For 3 days I've tried to download training plans to my 235, they are in my Training calendar in Connect on my PC and they appear in the Calendar on my Connect app on my android phone but they do not appear in the training calendar in my 235. I've searched forums and tried fixes but no luck. Here's what happens and what I've done;
Put Garmin training plan into Connect calendar and sent to device (arrow in top R corner). Express opens and sends 43 activities to 235 via USB.
Open training calendar in 235 and message reads 'download your training calendar from garmin connect.'
So, nothing in training calendar but each activity has been placed in My Workouts in the 235, which is no good to me, I want to know what I need to do on a given day by pressing a button on my watch Training-Calendar-Today-Do Workout (which I've done for the last few months for a previous training plan).
I've completed a marathon training plan using the calendar without a problem but I can't get it to work now.

Here's what I've tried to resolve the issue;
Sign in and out of Connect after clearing history and cache on 2 computers using IE, Chrome and Edge browsers.
Disabled adblock and security settings.
Deleted training plans and workouts from calendar and then rescheduled them anew.
Checked and unchecked the activities in Calendar (2 little lines left side of Calendar view).
Synced the 235 around 40 times, checking/changing settings etc. but still the same message 'download your training calendar from garmin connect.'
Please help...........
  • Workaround doesn't work either

I am using a Fenix 3 HR and the workaround you listed does not work. I have the same problem of the training calendar not transferring, but when i go to Menu-Training-My workouts, there are only a few workouts there. I have 20mb of memory available on the watch so I know it isn't out of space. Of the 168 workouts that should be in the "My Workouts" folder, I have 10. They are from all over my calendar... not just the more recent workouts. Being able to use the training plans and push workouts was literally the only reason I got the fenix instead of a Vivoactive HR... this is super annoying.

Thanks for explaining further. The only way that this particular workaround would work is if you select the Arrow icon on the Training Calendar in Garmin Connect and select Send Workouts to Device. The workouts will send to the device but rather than showing up in the Training Calendar as expected, they will show up in the My Workouts section. In order to get the workouts on to the device you would need to send the whole calendar once more.

We understand that this workaround is not the most convenient option for users, but is one option that might limit the impact to your training schedule if you are able to view the calendar on the computer to know which workout to select that day.

    Hi,
My whole point was that those workouts aren't syncing to my device either. Actually, now even the older workouts I had aren't there. In the workouts folder on my watch currently there are about five weeks of workouts that are scheduled for July, but nothing that's scheduled for now, and now there aren't even workouts that I just sent individually to the watch (that doesn't work anymore either). So I have literally no way to send workouts to my 230. The calendar isn't syncing correctly (doesn't show up as a calendar on the watch and doesn't have the correct workouts in the workout folder), and I cannot just send the workout for my run tomorrow because that won't sync either (I've tried doing it from my phone too, and that doesn't work).
  • What P-Hill is saying is exactly what is happening to me as well. That is what I have been trying to tell you for three posts now. I click the arrow and send it to my device, and nothing is on my watch... anywhere. I also have tried to send them individually.. again they are not there. They don't show up under "training plan" or under "My workouts".
  • [920xt] the Training -> Training Calendar does not work. The workaround works only for today training I mean even I have 6 different trainings scheduled in next 10 days in Calendar and I choose option to send training to device. I can see only one Workout in My Workouts on watch (only from today).

I have tried to synch my watch using Wifi and also directly by USB cable nothing works. I wish when I re-synch it tomorrow at least one scheduled training for tomorrow will be synched and available at least in Training -> My workouts option...
  • FR220 still not syncing - Garmin "workaround" doesn;t work

Thanks for explaining further. No, this workaround doesn't work for me. I have been using my FR220 for nearly 2 years, and have used the training calendar throughout that time. I know how to upload both a training schedule and individual workouts from Connect to my watch, I have done it dozens of times.

The problem with the workaround for me and numerous others it seems is not that it is "not the most convenient option", the problem is that it does not work.

I can see that Connect is sending a SCHEDULE.FIT file to my watch with a date that is appropriate for the time at which I try to upload my schedule. So it is clear that this is not a hardware / connection issue. It would seem that there is something about this SCHEDULE.FIT file that is now incomprehensible to my watch, hence the problem.

By contrast, when I try to send individual workouts - nothing. There are no new files sent to my watch.

How often to we need to say - CONNECT DOES NOT UPLOAD WORKOUTS AND TRAINING CALENDARS AT THE MOMENT - at least for a significant number of users across a wide range of devices. Something has been changed, somewhere, and it is now broken.

Come on Garmin, show us that you are listening and have at least some understanding of customer care and how your own website works..... please fix this issue!

[Update - after the "workaround" not working all day today, suddenly it is working...so maybe some progress is being made. Still no joy with the training calendar yet.....]

    Temporary solution

What P-Hill is saying is exactly what is happening to me as well. That is what I have been trying to tell you for three posts now. Now I have at least two weeks of training plan in my Fenix 3 HR, not as a schedul but in My workouts.
Before I sent each activity from the Training Plan view (not from the Calendar), I deleted al activities from "Workouts" directory (obviously I had access like any other USB device, I mean from my PC)
Then I transfer activity by activity, no the whole calendar.

Hope to help you meanwhile our Garmin friends solve this annoying issue.
  • workaround does not work

@M_A_TT_EO, I am able to get the workouts to send to the Foreunner 620. Do you see the workout files in the NewFiles folder on your Forerunner after syncing with Garmin Express, but prior to disconnecting the device to the computer? If the files are not making it to the device then this is something else that is going on, and we would need to look at that specifically.

    Dear GFM1011,

yes, I see the workout files in the NewFiles folder on your Forerunner after syncing with Garmin Express, but ONLY prior to disconnecting the device to the computer. After disconnecting the FR620 from the pc, I don't find back any workout either in the calendar or in the individual workout section.

It seems that the proposed workaround it does not work for me, and apparently I am not the only one.
In the meanwhile to find a solution, maybe you could provide a detailed, step by step procedure for the workaround, if you are sure that it should work.

Thank you for your support and keep trying!!!
  • Rollback to the previous build

Just roll-back. I'm in software development myself. Rolling back is the only sensible thing to do to keep customers satisfied.

I said the same thing on Saturday when posting about this issue. When we release something that causes issues, we just rollback and debug the broken build. Simple! I find it hard to believe it's taken nearly a week and you don't have an idea what the issue is. Surely, your engineers have a changeset log of each release.

workouts are populating but calendar is still blank

frustrating, but at least workouts are showing up on fenix 3
