Connect not transferring plans to training calendar (it thinks it is though)-FIXED

Please help me.... please... I need to get some sleep!
For 3 days I've tried to download training plans to my 235, they are in my Training calendar in Connect on my PC and they appear in the Calendar on my Connect app on my android phone but they do not appear in the training calendar in my 235. I've searched forums and tried fixes but no luck. Here's what happens and what I've done;
Put Garmin training plan into Connect calendar and sent to device (arrow in top R corner). Express opens and sends 43 activities to 235 via USB.
Open training calendar in 235 and message reads 'download your training calendar from garmin connect.'
So, nothing in training calendar but each activity has been placed in My Workouts in the 235, which is no good to me, I want to know what I need to do on a given day by pressing a button on my watch Training-Calendar-Today-Do Workout (which I've done for the last few months for a previous training plan).
I've completed a marathon training plan using the calendar without a problem but I can't get it to work now.

Here's what I've tried to resolve the issue;
Sign in and out of Connect after clearing history and cache on 2 computers using IE, Chrome and Edge browsers.
Disabled adblock and security settings.
Deleted training plans and workouts from calendar and then rescheduled them anew.
Checked and unchecked the activities in Calendar (2 little lines left side of Calendar view).
Synced the 235 around 40 times, checking/changing settings etc. but still the same message 'download your training calendar from garmin connect.'
Please help...........
  • The workouts sent to your watch should be available in the ‘My Workouts’ section of the watch, found here (steps vary by device):

    • Access the device’s Menu
    • Select Training
    • Select ‘My Workouts’

We understand that it is not as convenient, but you may try viewing the Training Calendar in Garmin Connect and match up the day of the week to the workout on the device.

Admin, this is not a workaround. I would have no problem doing this if it were just my calendar that's not syncing, but I can't even do this because workouts don't sync either. I can't get them from the workouts section because they're not there.

I have other devices I can use if I need to, but for people with just the one watch that they depend on, it seems silly to have this crucial functionality down for so long. I know a lot of people decide to buy Garmin watches specifically because of the advanced workout and planning abilities that some other brands don't offer, so many of your customers are experiencing significant issues with this.

@M_A_TT_EO, I am able to get the workouts to send to the Foreunner 620. Do you see the workout files in the NewFiles folder on your Forerunner after syncing with Garmin Express, but prior to disconnecting the device to the computer? If the files are not making it to the device then this is something else that is going on, and we would need to look at that specifically.

@P_Hill, what device are you using?
  • Same problem....and the "solution" doesn't work either.

After nearly 2 years of no problems with my FR220, suddenly I seem to be unable to upload workouts from my calendar to my watch. This problem occurred for the first time last night (28th Feb 2017).

I have previously done this dozens of times with no problem at all. My workouts are in my calendar on Garmin Connect, and when I click on the arrow to send them to my device the website recognises that 7 workouts should be sent, and it starts up Garmin Express correctly. Garmin express runs perfectly as well and "thinks" that it has synced.

Looking on File Explorer I can see that there is a new file in the "SCHEDULE" folder on my watch that contains a .FIT file with an appropriate time and date on it. But when I disconnect my watch and go to my Training Calendar there is nothing there - just a message to go to Garmin Connect and download my calendar.

I have already tried the "solution" of transferring individual workouts to my watch. That doesn't work either.

I see that I am not alone and that this is a problem across multiple devices. I am quite amazed that Garmin has allowed this to happen and seems unable to provide a solution (surely they can roll-back to a time not so long ago when it all worked?).

I join the clamour for a solution, and fast please. The loss of functionality is a real nuisance.

    Regards

    Jim
  • Thank you for your continued patience. Unfortunately, we don’t have an update as to when this will be resolved, but wanted to provide some steps that may allow you to continue your training.

The workouts sent to your watch should be available in the ‘My Workouts’ section of the watch, found here (steps vary by device):

    • Access the device’s Menu
    • Select Training
    • Select ‘My Workouts’

We have made this thread a sticky and will provide any new information when it is available.

    hi !

It seems you have not read my post entirely ;o)

I know I can access the workouts, i know perfectly how to use this watch. But, when I am following a plan - even though I have designed it myself - I can't learn by heart which workout is planned on a given day. I have to open Connect on a computer to know. If I have no computer or no phone - just the watch - this is just not possible when I have something like 20 or 25 different kinds of workouts in the workout section.

OK, we understand that you just don't know what the problem is and can't give a resolution date. So, why don't you just roll back to a version that worked before ?

    Cheers

  • Just roll-back. I'm in software development myself. Rolling back is the only sensible thing to do to keep customers satisfied.
  • Same problem with Forerunner 235

Yesterday I was about to go to training when noticed that the calendar on my device was displaying "Download training calendar from Garmin Connect" tried multiple times, I did a hard reset and even the training session where sent to the training session section instead the calendar, this is pretty annoying issue, so please fix it
  • @P_Hill, what device are you using?

Hi, I'm using the FR 230. Funnily enough, my FR 410 doesn't have any issues syncing the training calendar (but it does have this fun problem where only half of a run will display on Connect, but all of it displays on other sites).
  • Exactly!!!

    Exactly!!!

Obviously we as users we have to find a workaround to the issue, however is not convenient as most of use the training session calendar as training base, for any given day planned training session without having to memorize Week numbers and Days for the traning session to pick!

Can you be more specific with what you mean here, and maybe provide a screenshot?

Are you not seeing the workouts scheduled on the Training Calednar in Garmin Connect?

My workouts are in the calendar on Garmin Connect, but when I realized my calendar wasn't syncing to my watch (it just says "download training calendar from Garmin Connect"), I tried sending the individual workout I was going to do for that day. That doesn't work either. So I can't get my calendar on the watch, and I can't just send workouts individually to the watch either. Neither method syncs to my watch. Workouts that I had already synced to my watch are still there, but I am unable to send new ones.

Someone from Garmin already accessed my account and then asked me to delete some files from the watch and try syncing again, but nothing worked, so he just told me he was escalating it to the appropriate people.
