TCX export - Split times not matching Garmin Connect

Hi,

Has anyone else noticed lately that when you export an activity to a TCX file, the split times don't match what's shown on Garmin Connect?

Here's a recent activity of mine:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1588478615

If you look at the split times, you see
1 9:37.0 9:37.0 9:33 1.00 -- 4 9:37 9:33 8:11 141 152 112
2 9:44.4 19:21 9:44 1.00 -- 12 9:44 9:44 8:49 145 156 120
3 9:33.2 28:55 9:26 1.00 19 22 9:33 9:26 7:47 152 162 123
4 9:33.7 38:28 9:33 1.00 9 17 9:34 9:33 8:20 156 162 125
5 9:37.9 48:06 9:35 1.00 16 -- 9:38 9:35 8:30 156 166 127
6 9:38.6 57:45 9:34 1.00 -- -- 9:39 9:34 8:25 156 165 125
7 2:08.8 59:54 2:06 0.23 6 -- 9:19 9:07 8:21 158 161 28
Summary 59:54 59:54 59:31 6.23 51 54 9:37 9:33 7:47 151 166 760
Garmin Forerunner 310XT
Software: 4.50.0.0
Elev Corrections : Enabled
Summary Data: Original

I downloaded this activity to a .TCX file (also a .FIT file) and imported both files into the old Garmin Training Center.

There I get:
Mile 1: 9:33
Mile 2: 9:44
Mile 3: 9:31
Mile 4: 9:33
Mile 5: 10:17
Mile 6: 10:00
Mile 6.23: 2:06

During Mile 5 and 6 I had to stop for traffic, but stopped the Garmin (the splits on Garmin Connect prove that). However, the TCX export appears to be showing the TOTAL time for the mile (including the time that the watch was stopped).

It happened on 2/22/2017 too.
  • I also have this problem

I have the same problem. It started on Feb 22, 2017. My export on Feb 21, 2017 was correct and everything since then has exported with shorter split/lap times.

Sorry I missed seeing your post before I posted my issue this morning: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?370905-TCX-Export-wrong-lap-times

The problem is with the TCX export because I re-exported a run before Feb 21 that originally exported correctly and today it exports with the wrong splits/laps.

I did not test the FIT files, but it looks like the GPX files export correctly. I am not sure if you are able to use the GPX as a workaround. I don't think the GPX files contain the split/lap information.

I hope they fix the issue soon. I prefer having the split/lap information from the TCX files.
  • I reported this to Garmin months ago. They got back to me with:
"After extensive review, we will not be adjusting how the site exports .tcx files.
Our preferred format is .fit and it would appear that many other sites will be adopting this format moving forward.
The .tcx format will remain an option for the time being."
