General Issues with Garmin over last few weeks

Morning all, I am seeing increasing numbers of issues being reported with kit being used and some of which I have noted with my Garmin Forerunner 10 as well....

1. GPS taking upto 5 minutes to sync now as opposed to usual 20 seconds.
2. Some of the display maps are off and the height differential from start to finish definitely out as well.
3. Some records now showing me as having traveled no distance at all despite the map showing ground covered.
4. Dam thing keeps auto-pausing indicating to me that the bird is not tracking the watch very accurately.
5. Oh and of course, a favourite.... keeps telling me I am in Micronesia despite being here in NZ so there is a two hour differential in time zones....

Can any members confirm fixes; or GC techs for that matter?

Cheers, Pete:confused:
  • #4 The satellite does not track the device.
Rather there a number of different satellites that transmit information as to their position. The Garmin device receives those and determines your position. Some areas the satellite singal can be blocked by tall building or heavy tree foliage.

#1 & #5 are probably the same. The newer Garmin devices get preloaded with the expected positions of the satellite based on your location. This information has to come from Connect or Mobile Connect. If the settings are wrong then you will have these problems.
