gamin 310 won't connect

i have a garmin 310 and had been downloading my data to gamin connect. Then one day something went wonky? Instructions on garmin connect advise me to connect via garmin express. i have everything loaded but express will not 'find' my garmin? i have it plugged in directly - using my USB port charger. Help?!

Is this a Forerunner 310XT? Assume you have the ANT stick plugged in?

This is for charging only. The FR310XT can't transfer data over USB. You need the ANT+ wireless stick.
