I agree I'm tired of putting pilate unsted of martial art. Please add martial art

I agrre, even knowing that we can't use our Garmin when doing martial arts or combat sports training, it would be nice to be able to log the activity and register metrics like bpm's during warmup and cooldown, and also it could be useful to keep a record of how many rounds of sparring how many minutes of resting and so on.
I agree, I do Jujitsu and Wrestling a lot and I am missing out on the data points. And as much fun as I am sure wing suit flyers are having a lot more of us doing Martial Arts. Please add this
Although the need for controlling intensity accurately would be a really great asset, as an instructor I would never allow the use of any device, neither on the wrist or the chest, it can be dangerous not only for the user but also towards the fellow grapplers. Until someone comes up with a really small chest device (preferably with a construction that is soft and that bends) it won’t be safe to use on a regular basis.
I also second the request. Wingsuit flying, OMG?!?! How many people in the world there are to practice this extreme sport (< 100 ?) as compared to martial arts practitioners (millions?).
Also, I am looking for a way to set martial arts yearly goal (as hours) in Garmin Connect. Haven't figured out how to do it...
I understand a watch or even a chest strap can't be allowed in all martial arts. For me, it is enough if I could manually add martial art exericse to Garmin Connect, or start my watch in martial arts sports mode, and leave it recording in my bag at the corner of gym. I dont care so much about HR and calorie amounts during my martial arts sessions, I just want to add the to my activity log, for keeping track of how many hours I have practiced martial arts during the year.
You can add any sport name you want. Not sure what model you have, but on my Instinct, I did it in the following way:
GPS button (up right) » scroll to Add » GPS » Other » enter the name ...
If you do not want to have the new sport in the group Other, use the function "Copy Activity" and select an activity from the group that you prefer (for example Strenght, or Yoga, or whatever). Or just log your training sessions as Yoga - if you do none, you will know what it stands for.
Thanks for the tip, that worked! I am using Fenix 5 Sapphire.
BTW, I come from Suunto world, I have been using Ambit 3 and Spartans for about 5 years. About one month ago switched to Garmin, since I got tired of constant sync problems with Suunto, and also lack of scripting language for own apps. There is still lots of things to learn about Garmin devices, but overall I am quite satisfied. Although I feel Garmin is superior in most areas, Suunto has more built-in exercise modes, one of them being martial arts.
Yes, I was also thinking about using some sports mode that I never do, as a substitute for missing martial arts, but that would just look too ugly in the Connect diary, in my opinion.
