Editing the title of an activity changed the distance down to zero

Here's an example activity:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1562840623

EDIT: Nuts... I put the wrong link up there. The bug did happen with that run, but after the bug happened I manually typed the distance back into the activity. Here is another activity that I edited, just to see if I could recreate the bug: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1518152296

Note - It was the "full edit" page that I used to change the title, i.e. the pencil icon in the upper right of the activity. I typed in the new title and hit save, and when it brought me back to the activity the distance was 0.0.
  • distance went to zero after editing activity name.

the moment I change the title total distance goes to zero.

If I change the name of the activity, type of exercise or any other attribute, the speed an distance get set to 0.

If you edit the activity name using its own Edit button (pencil icon), change the activity type using the drop-down below the activity name on the page, or even change the gear assigned to the activity, it still won't cause the issue:

I upload my swim and it shows the distance and speed as expected. If I change the name of the activity, type of exercise or any other attribute, the speed and distance get set to 0. Is there a fix for this? it wont let me edit the distance
I don't know about swim activities, but for run activities I can certainly (manually) restore the value of the distance field after it get zeroed erroneously by Garmin Connect.

  • I just tried the same thing with a pool swim. I used the title edit button to change the title of the swim and the distance remained correct.

But when I used the (main) edit button to change the title, the distance was reset to zero.

Garmin Support please fix this bug. (and while you are at it, the search function too,... please! :) )
  • Zero distance

Exactly the same issue here with the last 2 imported activities

Garmin Forerunner 10, windows 7 and google chrome

    1. Import with Garmin Express
    2. All is correct in Garmin Connect
    3. Click to go into the details of the activity
    4. Click in the pencil on the right top corner to edit activity
    5. Edit the name of the activity and write some comments
    6. Save it (bottom below comments box)
    7. Distance and Avg Pace turns to 0 kms
  • You do know Garmin is aware of this issue? It will be fixed at some point, so until then just don't edit activities and cause yourself problems.

Garmin Connect had a software update come out today that fixes this issue. The distance and pace data will no longer zero out upon editing the activity. If you are still experiencing this issue reply to this thread so that we can investigate further.
  • What shall we do with the ones already imported and that have zero ?

Should we delete them in garmin connect and reimport with garmin express ?

There are a couple of options. You can export the file and then re-import it into GC or manually edit the distance.
  • Yep! Fixed here. Many thanks
  • Garmin, the issue of distance reset to zero has been fixed for me too,

however, it looks like a new bug has been introduced by this:

When I want to edit an activity some fields that used to be editable have disappeared. (like avg and max temperature ,etc..)
  • The Speed/Distance error upon editing is now working correctly for me, also. Thanks, Garmin staff!

I did have to re-enter my user name for some reason before I could get to the Activities screen from the Dashboard.
