Two email addresses which access same account and cannot edit to rationlise

I have ended up with Two email addresses which access same account, via same password, I want to edit to rationalise to one account, any ideas, when go into profile edit pages it shows computer code and advises using old version.

By any chance are they gmail addresses - one with a dot and the other without? If so, GMail doesn't know the difference and treats them as one address under the covers.
