Trim activities & Remove GPS Spikes?

I have just got back from a week of skiing and started to look at my activities, there are a few where i forgot to stop the activity from my Fenix3 so they have a long blank at the end where i was sat enjoying an apres ski beer, is there a way to remove this from the end of the activity? also there are times when in a gondola I lost an accurate GPS fix and my location momentarily jumped some distance away and caused my maximum speed to be recorded as some unrealistic value, the worst being around 250 KM/h, is there a way i can filter these spikes out of the data?

I am very surprised that connect doesn't offer to clean up these spikes based on the data before and after the spike, when i add an GPX track to Memory maps it is very easy to do, but in doing so i loose everything but the GPS data.

    You can manually edit the activity summary information, including the maximum speed.

    Not in Garmin Connect.

    I'm surprised that you're surprised. Why should it offer? The Garmin device records what it saw, and Garmin Connect lets you see what was recorded. Retaining a clean ‘final’ record of an activity is obviously not imperative or even a priority, especially when you can easily spot the rare anomalies in the charts.

    <EDIT>
    I myself am apt to get all OCD, including not being able to stand having bits of clothing label remain after cutting it across the dotted line printed on it, and ending up being too zealous with my scissors and ruining a few garments. However, I'm never surprised that clothing manufacturers don't “offer” a way to cleanly remove the labels if they're obviously intended to be cut before wearing.
  • Hi Ryan,

    If you can attach the offending .fit file(s) in a reply to this message, then I will see if I can clean them up using the Fit File Repair Tool.

    cheers

    Smug by name, Smug by nature!!

    if you've got nothing helpful to say don't say it at all.

    i have several of these anomalies in every recorded activity. that is about 14 activities over a week.
