Updating number of steps manually in GC

I had some walking activities with GPS on, using my Vivosmart HR+, and in the last mile, it turned off because the battery was low.
As it is a circuit I do very often, I was able to update the activity data to match the distance, duration, approximate calories etc.
However, it stopped counting the steps altogether, and I could not find a way to manually update the number of steps of that day.

Do you know of any way to do so?
  • No way to do this. Your daily steps can only come from a garmin device.

Otherwise, it would be possible to inflate your counts (cheat), and in some cases employee wellness programs keep an eye on things like steps, and use it to determine things like rates you for insurance, etc. Also, it would be easy to win challenges and badges....

    Alas some like to cheat...

    Hi Jim,

    Thank you for your response.
Although I can see the point when it is about assurance and so on - we are lucky enough in my Country and do not suffer this kind of surveillance - I really don't see the point of cheating otherwise.
I don't care "winning" a challenge by cheating.
Either way, I don't like being "cheated" because my device went off.
I'm trying to capture my activity precisely and measure my *real* progress.

Anyway, that's the way it is. I'll pay more attention to my battery next time
  • But other people do care about winning and don't care how they do it. People can, and still do, falsify the number of steps they accumulate so you can never be too sure what's real and what's not. The only thing you can be certain of is the veracity of your step count.
  • People have been know to attach pedometers to dogs tails to run up the count.

Don't know if the VAHR would be able to track that as steps are not.
