Connect function request

Does any one from Garmin read the forums? Ah well, we live in hope.
The "Create new course" function pretty much uses roads - or nothing. Roads checked means exclusively roads and with the button unchecked, it just draws a straight line! Would it be possible to have a "use cycle paths" button. I understand that this is rather like the Strava campaign for a separate Mountain bike catagory, But the fact is, not everyone is a road cyclist and some people want to explore.
  • Occasionally Garmin employees will read and post.

I commonly draw courses on bicycle paths. Agreed, there aren't that many out there, but the one I use the most is available. With the "draw on roads" selected the route will follow the path automatically.

Most of this course is on a bicycle path: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/14253865
  • Where bike paths are identified Garmin Connect can route along them. Often times this is not the case so the only way to plot route along them is manually by clicking points along the path with the 'use roads' box unchecked. Can be a bit laborious if you have a long route but that can be the only way to go sometimes.
  • If you pull up Google Maps, then select bicycling, you'll see a green path, which is also what you see in Garmin Connect when you've selected the Bicycle map layer.

Yes and no. In my area I have 2 designated cycle routes. Both are recognized on Google maps and in Openstreetmaps. Only one maps automatically in Garmin. The other steadfastly refuses to. Now I could trace it manually but what is the point of that? I already know that its there so Garmin isn't doing anything for me. If I was able to set a preference for trails I wouldn't find myself on a 2 lane highway with traffic passing at 80MPH. There is also a possibility the the database would be set up to recognize trails.
It also doesn't seem to recognize the attributes in openstreetmaps very well. This is despite the public editing the maps to show cycle friendly courses. Pity

    Feature Requst Expansion

Id like to be able to use Spark calories and app within Garmin connect instead of MFP being the only source to use in Garmin. Since I can already use garmin inside spark I hope it can be used both ways. I dont like that MFP has a Monopoly over users inside the Garmin connect app. I think other Calorie apps should be listed for a user to choose from instead of being forced into a 2nd app they otherwise dont want or wouldnt use.
  • That's a completely different feature.
