Connecting to My Fitness Pal

I have been trying to connect my Garmin to My Fitness Pal. When I go to My Fitness Pal, and select the Garmin Connect App, (which is downloaded on my phone and my desktop) I push Connect. It takes me to the Garmin Connect app, but there is nothing there to connect to My Fitness Pal. SO, I can't connect. I want My Fitness Pal to read how many steps I have taken. I used to have MFP linked to a Fitbit, but I have taken all of that off. It just won't let me connect my Garmin. Any ideas?

I think you have to do it in Garmin Connect somewhere... I can't find it now but yeah the link from MFP just takes you to Garmin

that's not how the steps works with MFP - your steps will be factored in to your device's total calorie consumption (aside from activities which are sent specifically) which is sent to MFP

MFP will compare this with it's own calculation of what your non-exercise burn rate is (which is something like your BMR according to MFP [can't be changed] with a factor for the activity level you have set in MFP [roughly 1.2 for sedentary as I understand it])

Now it will give you a calorie adjustment - either positive or negative - if you're device thinks that you have burned more or less calories than MFP already thought you would based on it's readings.

Check in your Exercise Diary if you have a Garmin calorie adjustment. If not, go to Apps -> Steps and make sure you have turned on the Garmin option

So I did that, and in my Garmin Connect it gives me an option to "Disconnect from MFP." However, in My Fitness Pal, there is nothing indicated in my "App/Step" category that anything is connected. It says that I can add a device, but again, when I click on that button, it takes me to a spot where I can connect to Garmin Connect, and it takes me there, and there is nothing there that assists me in connecting. I am confused.

not sure then sorry.... If you don't have Garmin Connect under the Steps App then something isn't setup right.

i might suggest opening a browser in "in private" / "incognito" / "porn" mode - and try again to add the app in MFP in there; in case something has got confused somwhere in the proces due to cookies etc.
  • Use a computer to connect the two accounts. To connect MyFitnessPal to Garmin Connect, go to the Calories In/Out report in Garmin Connect in your web browser and connect it there. Then go back to MyFitnessPal, go to Apps and then Steps and make sure Garmin Connect is selected as your step source.

If you need to disconnect and reconnect your accounts, Calories In/Out in Garmin Connect is where you manage that.

MyFitnessPal should then pick up your steps and give you a Calorie adjustment. For best results in MyFitnessPal, set your activity level in MyFitnessPal to sedentary, enable negative adjustments and set an exercise goal you can easily meet (30 minutes three times a week or so).

Disconnect My Fitness Pal from old Garmin Account and Reconnect to Current Account

I'm sorry if I am getting off topic, but I think my problem is close to the discussion here. When I go to connect to My Fitness Pal, I get a message that says that it is already connected with a Garmin account. This is an old Garmin account that I no longer use. How can I disconnect the two and reconnect MFP to my current Garmin account? Thanks.
