Vivosmart HR+ adding steps that have not been taken.

I synced my Vivosmart HR+ around 8.30 am this morning, to my surprise my step count for today was already up to over 17,516 steps. The weirdest part though is when I look at the step details, these steps are logged during the period from 2.30pm to 4.30pm and my local time (Greanwich mean time) is only 1.55pm so these steps will be taken in the future. I can rule out that the time zone settings are wrong since I already checked and I only walked aroundn 9000 steps yesterday and slept the whole night so I have no idea where the 17,516 should come from!
I synced again before posting this and the step number for today remains the same (17,516) and my steps from this morning were not added although they now show on the step details.

This is just so weird, I tried to add pictures but they won´t upload!

Hmm, sure does sound like a timezone issue. I would double check in your device settings that time is set automatically (Gear -> Time -> Set Time -> Auto) and then double check your phone's timezone. Are these the steps reported on the device, the app, or the website? Are they all in agreement?

It definately not a time zone issue, it wouldn´t make sense anyway since I am only walking around 8,000 steps daily so I am usually not walking 17,516 steps in 24 hours. I just synced again this morning, the total for Januart 4th is still exactly 17,516 steps although the steps detail give the correct steps (a little over 8,000).

The app and the website are in agreement, 17,516 steps yesterday (device was around 8,000 when I went to bed last night), all agreed on 18 floors, app and website counted 110 intensity minutes while the device was up to 187 intensity minutes (device is correct).

This is not a huge problem for me, I just think this is very weird.

The app and the website also do not show any sleep data for January 4th.

Huh. Must be some other syncing issue... I noticed some interesting results from resetting my device the other day that revealed a bit of the detail of how steps counting is synced from the device. Seems like maybe they haven't totally ironed out the way that works and some steps are getting double-counted, combining two days' steps (~9000+~8000 = ~17000).

I think that does show that it was a timezone and/or date issue.

What is sounds like happened is that the you got the real days steps, plus those for the day before or after. (actually maybe part of day).

The Jan 4 sleep data might have been posted for Jan 5. But you weren't looking there. And after the time was correct the Jan 5 th over wrote it.

Or it over write the Jan 3 sleep data. If the date timezone was often exactly a day you might not notice the changed sleep data.

If it was off 23 or 25 hours then the Jan 3 sleep data would be off an hour, but not noticed at a glance.

But the time/zone/date error might have been a glitch at Garmin's end. But where ever the glitch I think that it was a time/zone/date issue.
