Using Garmin connect with multiple devices. Vivoactive HR and Garmin 800

Hi

I have got a VivoactiveHR working with connect really well. Today I went for a bike ride, switched off the vivo active HR and switched on my Garmin 800 that I have. Is that the right thing to do? Or could I have kept the vivo active HR running at the same time on my wrist?

What is the correct way of using multiple devices?

Thanks

Stuart
  • Having both devices on shouldn't be a problem, but you probably don't want to record the ride on both (it would show up as two activities.).

I've used the va-hr with an Edge and Oregon for example, and in fact, I'll put the va-hr into "HR Broadcast Mode" as my HRM for the Edge or Oregon.
  • What I do and it's for sure not the most practial but works and is safe:

I log my biking on both FR920 and Edge800.
Both had some flaws a couple of times and then I have the other as backup. In normal cases I just delete the 800 data from Connect.

If possible the practical way would be to turn off automatic sync from one of the devices (Edge in my case) and only manually import when needed. Is this possible?
  • You don't have to do anything with your Vivoactive HR. Just don't start a session on it and you'll be fine. I ride with a 520 and use a 230 in activity tracker mode. I just rode with both - my 520 tracking my ride and my 230 on my wrist as a watch/activity tracker. No duplicate activities on upload, just an indication on Garmin Connect about my activity level.
