custom fitness value calculation

i am using these sport tracking units since a couple of years and im really a huge data freak but i still find it hard to get any value from comparing trainings since there are a lot of variables that come into play and i think its just to much for the human brain (or at least mine) to process all that and make use of it.
so i was thinking how this could be made visible with a single (or maybe 2-3) value(s) that get calculated from multiple input data so one can basicly compare these numbers over different trainings and see on a glance if for example one improved the performance for a specific training.
imagine it like a pc benchmark, if you would at the end be presented with all the graphs and details over time you could probably not tell how the performance compared to a different system without huge investigation into details, so they use a normalized result to show the performance, this is what i would like to see.

so my question is the following, since there is to my knowledge no option for custom formulas in garmin connect, is there a software that can take the data from garmin and process it with custom formulas or would i need to write something myself?

i have not checked the api for the watch yet, maybe someone knows if its possible to do post processing of a finished training on a watch directly? maybe as widget on history data or something like that?

at this point any input on how/where something like this could be realized with existing interfaces is much appreciated.
