Steps during Run adding to Active Calories effectively almost doubling them.

So I went for a longer run today and spent 1.346 calories during the activity according to Garmin. LINK to activity
However, the steps recorded during the run and the rest of the day amount to just over 42.000 and they are also used to raise the Active Calories for the day so they end up at 2.266 so far. (Wildly exaggerated.)
According to Garmin Connect I have to eat another 1.500 kcal to reach my target when in reality it's only about 500.
LINK to calories

I'm using a Fenix 3 running 8.02 beta even though Garmin Connect claims it's running 8.20 because it can't even parse the FIT files properly.
(It's also enabling the Elevation "Corrections" even though it recognises the watch as a Fenix 3.. very annoying.)

Please Garmin, fix this bug.
Thank you.
  • Here you can see how the same activity/steps are counted twice even though it clearly says it shouldn't when hovering the question mark at "Daily Steps".

I have the same problem with Forerunner 235. My active calories on days I run are huge and inaccurate. It drives me crazy. It's obviously a bug on their side. Garmin if you are reading, can you fix this!!
  • Same issue

Same issue for me since yesterday. It seems that Connect is counting steps as a new (run) activity and overcounting calories as well. At least, the Fenix 3 has the right information.

Does anybody have the account linked with Strava?

I have the same problem with the FR220 and the VSHR. I switched from Fitbit to the VSHR because Fitbit build quality is crap. While it was crap, at least it played nice with my FR220 with regard to not giving me double calorie credit for runs when importing to MyFitnessPal.

Now I have the VSHR & FR220 and the total calories burned, both in the GC app and as imported to MFP, are wildly off on days I run and it's apparent that I'm getting double calorie credit. It almost makes me want to go back to using Fitbit.
  • Have Garmin given any confirmation of this issue or said that they're working on it?

Forerunner 235 Active Calories to My Fitness Pal almost double on days I run

When I run, I for instance know the run is worth about 300 calories, but towards the end of the day my Forerunner 235 ups the active calories and sends almost double as an adjustment to My Fitness Pal. I don't log activities in MFP but the activities in Garmin create one in MFP with the same calories as the original activity. I have tried raising my Resting Heart Rate in Garmin Connect as someone suggested that Garmin regard anything that raises the heartrate a certain % over the RHR as being exercise therefore add to your Intensity Minutes/ Activite calories.

Does anyone know what is happening here and why we are seeing activities ápparently' counted twice?
