Garmin Swim failing to connect

Having problems with a new Garmin Swim.

I've tried Windows XP and a Samsung Galaxy 5 with no luck.

With Windows XP, I plugged in the ANT USB. Windows found a driver from Dynastream. That installed, but doesn't seem to do anything on it's own. I then tried to access www.garminconnect.com/start. There are a bunch of devices listed there, but NOT the Garmin Swim.

Then I tried the Galaxy 5. Installed the Garmin Mobile App and it starts, but gives me the same list of devices that does not include the Garmin Swim.
  • You cannot connect the Garmin Swim to a smartphone.

In order to connect it to a PC you need to install either ANT Agent+Garmin Training Center (not supported anymore but should still work if preferred for whatever reason) or Garmin Express. This will allow you to download your activities from the watch to Garmin Training Center or Garmin Connect website.
  • If you have a smartphone that supports ANT+ you can upload data from a Garmin Swim using an app called Uploader for Garmin (or Sportablet). It can upload data to Connect and a number of other cloud services. It also stores the FIT files locally on the phone. Not all features are free but it is well worth it.
