No Intenisty Minutes from Tacx Neo + Zwift riding with Edge 520?

I've been doing a few rides indoors with a tacx neo + zwift, whille simultaneously recording the ride on my Edge 520 (power, speed,HR,cadence).

The workouts upload as usual from the Edge 520 via Connect on android phone and to the website.

However my intensity-minutes are stuck at zero - even though the HR and power readings for sure are intense during the workouts.

anyone else seen this? what am I doing wrong?
zwift is obvously controlling the trainer and also collecting all the data - in parallel with the Edge 520 - does that make a difference?

thanks!
Anders
  • I still get no intensity minutes from my zwift-rides that I record with my Edge 520. The Edge does record power, cadence, speed, and HR. The rides upload fine to connect-android and connect-web, but no intensity minutes
  • "Intensity minutes" looks to only be a function of 24/7 activity trackers with a WHR (optical HRM). The Edge is not a 24/7, and doesn't have WHR.

I believe the device needs to know what things are like when you're not "intense" to determine moderate or intense activity minutes.

Optical heart rate is not needed for intensity minutes, HR (either optical or a strap) is needed for vigorous minutes but I get regular intensity minutes sometimes for walks with my Fenix 3 with no HR. I just checked and it looks like if I record an indoor ride using my Fenix 3 connected to my sensors (along with Zwift) it gives me intensity minutes but if I use my Edge 520 with the same sensors it does not. Now that Garmin has TrueUp between some of its devices I'm hoping the Edge units will get support for it so data from them is integrated with other activity data.
  • thanks for the clarifications!
seems I need to wear my 735xt while riding then... until garmin updates how the edge520 works..
