Activity Filter Delay?

Hi all! First I want you to know I searched in the forums to see if this has been raised before. Didn't find anything so apologies if this is out there.

I have noticed that when I do a simple search term filter in activities my recent activities don't show up. I don't know if there is a delay between adding an activity and the ability for the filter to "see" it but I've noticed this before. I have not tested if there is some time period after which it becomes available (but I will:) ).

In the two attached images you will see me enter a basic search term (Saturday) to find my activities named "Saturday Long Run" (and yes I know, my "long" runs aren't that long - I am getting there!) but you will see that the November 12th "Saturday Long Run" does not show up. It is spelled correctly (because I purposely cut and paste to cure such fat fingering).

Any ideas? The two images are below.

Thanks!

Steve

It seems that the "search" function fails to pick up the most recent occurrence of the search term. A work round is to manually create a new activity with the search term in its title. When you have finished doing whatever you want to with the search results, delete the dummy activity. Clumsy, but it works for me!
  • Thanks so much for the suggestion. Unfortunately didn't work for me. I added a manual activity and literally cut and pasted the name from the other activities. Did the same search (in this case Saturday) and it still didn't pick up the most recent (non-fake) activity.

I am in the software industry and a lot of times there is a "reporting database" that gets updates periodically from the "transactional database". I am wondering if there is some time component here.

Is there anywhere in Garmin Connect to "report a bug" or anything like that?

    Thanks again for your reply!
  • Thank you so much for the reply. Unfortunately for me it didn't work. I did add a manual activity, and even cut and pasted the name from the other activities I am using as my examples, but the search still did not return the last "real" event. So I am wondering if it is timing more than "just not the last one".

Is there any way to "log a bug" with the Garmin Connect folks?

    Thanks again!

I did a bit more testing and I think that you are correct. There does seem to be a time issue rather than a simple "not picking up the most recent". As of today(16th) I can't get a search result that is more recent than the 9th.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction and the best of luck with Garmin's software team.
