Unable to connect Edge 520 to Varia radia

My edge 520 is able to find my radar. It perhaps forms a light network but it refuses to form a connection. The lights icon in the sensor list just continues to flash. Software for the Edge 520 is up to date. Thanks for your advice on how to troubleshoot this.
