Bug report: active calories calculation error

Former Member
Former Member
The active calories are calculated incorrectly.
Actually, all the calories I gather cycling are counting a second time as walking. This error is made both in Garmin Connect as in Garmin Mobile.
For the Garmin devs: you can check this on my dashboard: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/dashboard/14855592

It might have something to do with this: I have to select the "Other" activity on my Vivosmart HR as cycling is not available, and then I change it to "Cycling" after it is synced.
(if anyone knows how to add the cycling activity to a vivosmart HR, this would make me very happy).

Not sure if I got it right but here is a screenshot:

The amount of calories in the red part of the left graph and the total of the right graph should be the same...

Active calories way out of walk.

I'm not even logging activities. According to Connect I walked 2,122 steps and burned 1535 calories doing that. These just started happening recently. I've seen similar numbers for the past 7-10 days. I did load an update, possibly about the time it started.

    fixed!

Seems to be fixed now in Garmin Connect (have not been able to check Garmin Mobile yet).
    Thanks for taking action!
  • Garmin VivoSmart HR - Active Calories Madness

My Garmin VivoSmart HR seems to have gone crazy - I appear to be generating some 1,000 extra active calories daily even when I have not worked out.

What is going on! Looking at the data the device was working fine in August / September but it has gone way off sense then.

Can anyone offer advice or insight as to what has caused this.

    Regards,

    Marlene
