HTTP Status 500 - System error : Invalid or empty activity

This is really frustrating.
Almost every day and today for over 12 hours your server is down.
So I have to manually copy my data...

Any kind of export whether it be tcx or GPX ends up like this :

type Exception report

message System error : Invalid or empty activity

description The server encountered an internal error that prevented it from fulfilling this request.

exception

  • Same issue

Having the same issue as above. Can't export tcx or gpx
  • Lots of discussion here regarding this topic.
    https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?361590-Unable-to-export-TCX-GPX-or-Google-Earth/page4

As discussed in that thread you can use "export original" to get a .fit file.

In fact I need the gpx file to import my stats to nageurs.com where 8 years of daily stats have been stored.
So do you have any inkling how to convert a .fit file to .gpx?
The workaround which is tedious is a manual lap by lap with all the timing.
  • Yes that conversion is also in the thread. In short, you can use several online conversion sites, such as GPSies http://www.gpsies.com/convert.do

    Thanks!
    I found another - UNIQUE - workaround.

It's called using my Poolmate Pro swimming watch - until Garmin gets their act together

That is all fine and dandy when there actual is DATA in the file. I just downloaded the FIT file and there is nothing in it. In any case it seems all Garmin export is KAPUT needs to be fixed and as I said my workaroung for simplicity's sake is to swim with my Poolmate that works like a charm. No problems exporting there. You need to fix this or your going to lose clients...

I'm not a Garmin employee. Just a volunteer trying to help. If you're missing data in your fit file, if you post a link to your activity, someone might be able to take a look and see what is going on. There is also another issue currently impacting some devices where they are not recording any gps data, so that might be what is happening. Just a guess.

    Hello again,
I beleive all the data is there, at least it seems so on the Garmin site. And for a while I had the same error message and if I tried a few times it ended up working.
I wrote to Garmin 10 days ago and this was their reply :
    Madame, Monsieur,

    Cordialement

:mad:I've been getting this same error message the past few weeks. The data is wirelessly uploaded to Strava just fine, but when I attempt to export an activity from Garmin Connect to TCX so I can then upload to Training Peaks, I get this gibberish. I've stored years of data on TP and don't want to abandon that tool any longer. Is this something that Garmin will repair soon? Do I continue to wait, and wait, and wait...?
