How can I IMPORT Fitbit Data to Garmin Connect?

Former Member

Good morning folks,

i am searching now for a while to find a solution how to sync my Fitbit Data to Garmin Connect. I only need that once, bc i want to switch to Garmin Connect.
I am using the Fitbit Charge HR and want to change to a forerunner modell. I found a lot of Sync-Tools for the other way around, nevertheless, i couldn´t find the direction Fitbit -> Garmin Connect, not even a third party tool.

I have tested:
Fitnesssyncer - Not working anymore. Credentials are ok but he is not syncing.
Strava - Can´t import the Fitbit Data bc it has no GPS information.
Tapiriik - Does not offer Fitbit Support, only a few others.

Have i missed something or does somebody know a workaround?
I would highly appreciate any idea which leads me to a solution!

Regards,
Dooominik
  • I've never seen or head of a way to to this. I came from fitbit years ago, and it seems about the best you can do is sync new runs (using a site like myfitnesspal), so if you record a run on FB, you see it in GC. But then you also want to not also record it on Garmin or your data gets doubled.

You probably just want to use your old FB data as a reference until you've built up data with the garmin watch. Also, Garmin and Fitbit do use different ways to count things - steps is a biggy - FB seems to be a bit "generous" when it comes to counting them. Garmin has "10 or more" logic (that's my name, and nothing I've officially seen documented, but you see it happening if you watch closely), where it tries to reject "bonus steps" from simple arm movement. Until it detects 10 "steps" they aren't counted, but more than 10, you do get credit for the first 10. As a result, you may find it a bit harder to hit your step goal. But I find the data is better!
  • Garmin has "10 or more" logic (that's my name, and nothing I've officially seen documented

I have seen that documented somewhere in a paper on pedometer algorithms, can't find it at the moment though. The principle is mentioned on a product page here: http://eachstepyoutake.com/yamax-power-walker-ex-510-pedometer-review/ :"..as well as an 11-step filter that starts counting steps from your 11th step on (or 10 seconds after you started walking) as a preventative measure to avoid miscounting".
  • I admit it's nothing I looked for as being documented :) I got the original vivofit when it first came out and the way it displayed steps, it was very easy to see (no steps until you got 10+, and then it would jump by 10). And it's the same on other Garmin watches if you know what to look at (a place where step count it updated every second, like the steps widget), as you won't see it on a watchface that's usually only updating every minute.

You are right. I just want to keep the produced data from my FB account. I stopped since i got my forerunner...

I have collected a lots of activities and want to keep them, just for the record.

So, does anybody have an idea?

I have checked Myfitnesspal but couldn´t find a way to transfer data. I could only see that both data sources (FB and Garmin) will be shown together at myfitnesspal.
