Forerunner 620 won't sync steps to Connect

I haven't had any success using this garmin watch. It won't sync my steps on Connect, some of the functions it is supposed to have doesn't show up in the menus. Apparently you can't get watch faces either... the bluetooth pairing is so terrible, I have to reset the garmin frequently. To make matters worse, it won't give me updates when I receive a text or email OR ANYTHING. This thing is a brick without some of the basic functions. If I wanted a watch only, I'd of bought a watch!
