Connect down again

For my taste I see this "sorry, down for maintenance" too often.

Besides that I can't sync my VAHR to GCM, which seems to be related.

Hey, Garmin, ever heard of high availability for web services?

Embarrassing
  • I fail to see the need for posts telling us GCM is down. FFS it's not the end of the world. It's not the only web service that has issues. It's not a life or death matter. It's a minor inconvenience. That's all. Period. Full Stop. Get over it. Get on with stuff that is really important.

No need to be a drama queen.

    It's a minor inconvenience.

That depends on how often that happens. For my taste it's down pretty often (nearly every week) and usually, when I want to sync before going to bed.

And that is pretty annoying and unprofessional from an IT standpoint. Peroid ... in your words ;)
  • Maybe it's your ISP then. Because I post activities several times a week most weeks and cannot remember the last time I had a problem or saw a message that the site was down.

Definitely not, especially when Connect shows a maintenance excuse. All other services I use work like a charm, even IPTV and VoIP.
  • Perhaps your browser is hanging on to cached page then. Or could be because you're down there in Europe, and I'm up here in Australia. I honestly cannot remember the last time I saw a 'down for maintenance' page. Logic should suggest that Garmin would take the site down when the northern hemisphere goes to sleep, i.e. when we are awake. Hmm, that does suggest that Garmin operate with some degree of logic...
  • Can't access Connect but status site says all is OK

Trying to log onto Connect for a couple of hours and getting nothing other than a couple of lines of text. I would attach a screengrab but for some reason it won't let me.

The Connect status site says, meanwhile, that everything is green for OK. I've tried with Firefox and Explorer.

Wondering if it's just me or has anyone else noticed ... and if it is an issue, I assume Garmin are aware?
  • I am having the same problem. Garmin? Garmin? Beuhler?

Nonsense ... sorry, I don't want to be rude, but let's try it with logic thinking ... I saw an official Garmin maintenance message, where I saw my personal Connect page before. That has nothing to do with browser, ISP or country specific issues, where I might see a blank page or a http error.

Or could be because you're down there in Europe, and I'm up here in Australia.

Yes, and this is a time zone difference of about 8 hours, when comparing to Sydney, so when I encoutered the error at 11:00 p.m., it was 7:00 a.m. in Sydney and you maybe had breakfast or drove to work or whatever ;) ... and didn't notice a downtime.

No, they do a maintenance during their own work hours in the US, which usually is MY evening and your early morning of the next day already.
  • Well like philipshambrook I hardly ever have an issue connecting with Connect ... that's not to say like any web page it doesn't go down occasionally but it must be so infrequent that I miss it.

    Connect no dashboard

    Hi,
Has anyone else got a problem with the connect dashboard page? I have logged into mine a number of times and on 2 PC's but all I get is the dashboard page with nothing else. Just sidebar menus which don't respond.
It has been like this for over 24 hours, and when my wife logs into her account, it is just the same.
    Thanks
    Francis
