New password requirement

Why has the idiotic and pointless change to password requirements been introduced? How did this ever get through QA?

Password minimum length 8 characters? Fine.

Everything else should be up to the user, this is stupid annoying and does nothing for security. Why can't I have a 30 character password with no numbers? It is more secure than the minimum given in the rules.

Get over it. You'd probably be the first to complain if your data got hacked.

Why haven't I encountered this requirement? Why isn't there a sticky about it or a banner notice? Are you sure about this requirement?

I only know of one other person who mentioned this but that was a couple of days ago when Connect was a bit shaky.

Did Garmin start encrypting data over the internet yet?
A 1,000 length password with a mix of upper, lower, numeric, punctuation, hieroglyphs doesn't mean anything if someone can intercept the unencrypted data.
