Segments tab not available?

For some reason I don't have the 'segments' tab available in my activity details screen.
Why is that? I want to create a segment, but can't find the tab.

Activity tracked on the device with the profile 'other', set to activity type "walking" in Garmin connect.

Any idea?

Figured it out myself.
Turns out that the segment functionality is linked to the ' Activity type' setting. When I select the activity type 'Cycling', the segment functionality is available.
But for quite some activity types ' Segments' is not available....

That 's sad. I wanted to use the functionality for my kayaking trips.
Obviously I can track the kayaking activity as 'Running', or 'Cycling', but that would not be ideal. But may be I just will do that.
Any thought on this? Why is the restriction made? How to work around?

Yes, it works still in the same way as 7 years ago. You need to enable Garmin Segments. Your account is probably set up to use Strava Segments. Instructions how to enable Garmin Segments are available in the document Creating Segments for a Garmin Watch or Edge Device | Garmin Customer Support - see the paragraph "Switching Between Garmin Connect and Strava Segments". And yes, they are still available only for Cycling and Running.
