Very specific help for GPX into FIT (see inside)

Hi, I did a cycling ride yesterday and forgot my Garmin. I assumed it would be a snap to add it the ride to Connect, but apparently it is not.

I went to MapMyRide, mapped out the ride, added the times, and saved the ride. I exported this ride as a GPX file (the only other option is KLM or something). I have found a billion sources online telling me to add the GPX file to the NewFiles folder inside my Garmin (done), eject, power on the Garmin, go to "Courses", select the GPX ride which will automatically process into a .fit file...

And that is ALL anyone ever says, anywhere that I can find.

That's great, except I don't want a course, I want the ride added to my Connect activity. I have tried moving the file from "Courses" to "Activities", but the Garmin won't acknowledge it exists, I have tried renaming the file to yesterday's date-time-.fit, and Garmin/Garmin Connect still won't acknowledge the file... I have gone to MapMyRides and re-exported the GPX file and tried to manually import the GPX file to my activities window, and that doesn't work, and I have tried manually importing all of the above to the Activities window in my Garmin Connect, and nothing works.

So. Anything else I can try?

A quick solution is to add the data from the ride as a Manual Activity in the web version of Garmin Connect - this will at least keep your stats up to date (it won't include a map unless you create your route as a course in GC and then assign the course to your activity)

    Hello Guy,

1). BaseCamp will import KMZ/KML files and then export as GPX. You might try that to see if that GPX will load into Connect.
2). GPSies (an online file converter) will load your course file and convert it to a GPX Track that should load into Connect.
3). Purchase the great software "Fit File Repair Tool" and have complete control over all kinds of files.
4). Attach your course file to another post here and someone with the Fit File Repair Tool will convert it to a proper GPX file for you.
