same course everyday, different elevation every day

So I run the same course every day. Same road, same side of the road.

My garmin vivoactive doesn't have barometer, so it is gps elevation with corrections by garmin connect.

And yet every single day, it shows different elevations on the splits, which I have set to half-miles for increased stats/accuracy. The splits with elevation change (vs no change) are the same daily but not the amount itself.

And the overall average elevation is also different, every day.

Why is elevation so useless on garmin?

It is one thing for gps location to be slightly off, but why are the corrections from garmin connect different?
  • rinserepeat, you are absolutely right!
The VA doesn´t have a barometer and GPS is way to imprecise (with elevation).
That´s why garmin introduced a feature on Connect, which refers on the elevation-data from google Maps and/or OpenStreet Maps.
Due to the fact of the missing sensor, the data will automatically used after uploading your activity.

This means, the elevation shown on you watch will be wrong. After uploading, they will be almost correct on Connect. The stored activity on your VA will not be corrected, afterwards.

I appreciate the reply but you missed what I said

even after garmin connect "corrects" the data, it is wrong and still different each day

in fact I just went and turned off the correction and you know what? the numbers are far more accurate and closer together
