How to upload an activity to Garmin Connect after deletion

Hi,

I did a run last night and my Forerunner 630 synced the activity to Garmin Connect via the Garmin Connect app fine, however it didn't sync to Strava. When it still didn't show up on my Strava feed 10 hours later, I decided to delete the activity from the Garmin Connect app in the hope that it would re-sync from my watch and then upload to Strava. However, it hasn't done this. The activity is still on my watch, but it won't sync to Garmin Connect again.

How do I now get the activity off my watch? Is there a way of manually accessing the .FIT file from the watch itself and uploading the activity manually to Garmin Connect?

Since deleting the activity I have noticed that Garmin activity uploads are currently limited according to their site https://connect.garmin.com/en-US/status. If this is the reason for the issue I am experiencing, will my activity still be uploaded to Strava if Strava received the data before I deleted the activity?

Scott
  • Yes it is possible to do it. Likely was caused by Garmin server issues.... might still be a little iffy...but worth a shot. Mine and my wifes activities seem to be working again...

You will want to connect it to a computer with the cable - then after 5-20seconds the watch should show up as a storage device in 'my computer' or similar.

You can browse in there, not sure if all watches have the same folder/file layout, but for me it is //Watch/Garmin/Activity

in the Activity folder you will find a lot of files (.fit) for each activity. Find the date/time of your activity ( maybe copy/paste to desktop) and use that file to IMPORT (from 'Activity' list page on GC Website)
