I guess I don't understand active calories - or at least how it's calculated.
Question #1:
When I workout - e.g., cycling or elliptical training - my active calories get recorded for the activity (either through my Garmin Edge 1000 with heart rate strap for cycling; or through my VivoSmart HR for elliptical work). And, my active calories continue to climb for about an hour after the workout ends. For example, I went on a bike ride this morning and my Edge said I burned 750 calories. By the time I finished showering and eating breakfast I had 1000 active calories burned. Is that after burn or is something off?
Question #2:
I don't use my VivoSmart HR to record cycling activity. I rely on my Garmin Edge and heart rate strap. Of course the VivoSmart will record my heart rate and auto calculates active calories anyway. After my ride is uploaded to Garmin Connect does Garmin Connect recognize the time of the activity and properly override what VivoSmart recorded? Or, should I expect some conflict that may inflate my active calories? I don't think it's being double counted - otherwise I would have expected my active calories in the example I provided above to be around 1200 - 1400.
Thanks for any assistance.
