Vivoactive HR and Moto G (3rd Gen) Not Liking Each Other

Hi - first time poster. I have the Vivoactive HR and I'm trying to get it to stay connected to my Moto G (3rd gen) and it does just not want to. I have synced with Garmin Express to make sure I have the latest software. I have loaded Garmin Connect onto my phone and paired. However, the watch and phone will not stay connected with each other. And I mean every 30 seconds or less, the watch will vibrate and tell me that the phone is disconnected and then a couple of seconds later reconnects. Really annoying. I've Googled some remedies and tried to remove Connect from the phone and re-download but to no avail. I'm sure that someone else has had the same issue but after trying to search the forum and the vast number of posts to sift involving Android and the HR, I gave up and am hoping someone can guide me to a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
