viewing my exercise data from 920xt in real time on my garmin connect app

A real newbie question, I am sure I am missing something blindingly obvious. Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, I've searched the forums as best I can.

I'm not in a position to view my forerunner 920xt when I'm exercising (paddlesports), it would be ideal to have the info from the watch displayed in real time on my mobile, which has garmin connect on it. (I can have the phone mounted on the board in front of me, and obviously the much bigger screen will be far easier to see). But I can't work out how to do that.

Is it something real simple? I can see how, using my connections, I can invite other people to view the activity, but I can't seem to get it to show it on my own phone, which is actively blue-toothed to the watch. Not until I've actually saved the exercis

As said, apologies if this is the biggest duh-of-the-day question!

many thanks in advance

LiveTrack will work in a browser on the same mobile device that is running Garmin Connect Mobile and uploading data to the Garmin Connect service over its Internet connection. I've tried it before a couple of times on different devices, inviting myself by e-mail to watch my activity on LiveTrack, and then clicking on the link sent in the e-mail notification to the invitee while the activity was in progress.

However, you ought to keep in mind that LiveTrack only updates once every minute or so, so it's hardly “in real time”. Garmin fitness devices are not designed to act as sensors providing a real-time data feed of all tracked metrics to an app that serves as the monitor/dashboard for the timed activity over Bluetooth. The most they would do is broadcast the heart rate (for some models that have a built-in Elevate optical heart rate sensor) over ANT+, but certainly not metrics such as GPS position, speed, cadence, etc.

Dang! OK, well, thanks for clearing that up. Shame! I'd also been thinking that it would be a fabulous thing for a coach, in the training boat alongside, getting the data directly and able to act upon it with advice etc.

Anyway, thanks again, really appreciate the reply.
