High step counts already - possible issue?

I've dropped a few ranks down the challenges in the last few weeks due to travelling. I'm currently on a 50k challenge and there are people already recording as 45,000+ steps. I'd be impressed but it shows their last time they synchronised their device as yesterday which was not even in the challenge week.

Is there an issue?

Thank you for your post. This is an issue that has been escalated to the Garmin Connect team for further investigation and resolution. It appears that currently the users' steps are not reset for the week unless the user has synced their data.

I've noticed the same thing. I left a 100k challenge for that reason. All the other people had end of challenge goal steps the morning of the first day without uploading any steps that day. I stayed with it for three days and I was the only one uploading steps. That was last week. This week I am in a challenge and the top person in the challenge already has a high number without uploading any steps today, the first day.

I'm in a 100k challenge that has a person that says last sync Sunday, and yet he has 227k steps. Last week I dropped out of another because on the first day there were 3 people with over 100k. I do the challenges to try to keep myself competitive and moving. It's hard to feel competitive if I have zero chance of winning. I'm considering dropping out of the challenges altogether. Frustrating.
