Time data from .gpx files not seen by GC

Since yesterday, the uploaded .gpx files from my bike rides have not been properly analyzed by GC. In a nutshell, GC does not see any time data points from the uploaded files. It sees the distance (position) data points, only. As a result, GC does not calculate the ride time, moving time, max speed, average speed, or the speed vs distance chart. Interestingly, if I upload an older .gpx file that prior to June 28 was analyzed by GC without any problem, it does not see the time data points this time around. Strava analyses these .gpx files w/o any problem, so yesterday (or the day before) something must have happened on the GC end that causes the glitch. Any idea what is going on?

    Time missing from GPX when imported to GC

    From today, when I import my GPX file into Garmin Connect, the time is missing from the work out. Subsequently most other fields are missing as well, due to the missing time. This worked perfectly yesterday, but from today this is a problem. I use a different tracking device. When uploading my workout to their website, all fields are present. I then export to GPX, and import to Garmin Connect. I have done this for years, and it worked fine. Can you please check, as I have award points linked to my workouts.

    We appreciate the discussion of this issue. We are also seeing some issues with Garmin Connect not processing or displaying all of the data correctly from a TCX or GPX file. This has been escalated to the Garmin Connect team for further investigation and resolution.

    Missing time info on GPX import

    I'm having the same problem uploading from my eTrex.

    Hopefully a quick fix?

    Please note that since Thursday 28 July my FIT files have not correctly uploaded with the time data either. I have had no problem prior to this. With no time data all my graphs are blank.

    We have seen this issue occur with FIT files for multi-sport activities, and the Garmin Connect team is working on that issue.

    If you are not using a multi-sport device, can you upload a FIT file or link to an activity so that I can provide this information to the teams?

    The Garmin Connect team has just deployed a fix for this issue. The file types that were affected by this issue will not display incorrectly moving forward.

    Any previously uploaded files that were displaying incorrectly, can be exported in the original format (Export Original) and then re-uploaded to the account.

    For some reason, I can't upload the FIT files, the uploader keeps failing so have attached relevant links.

    Thank you for the links to the activities, unfortunately, they are locked so I am unable to view them.

    Since there was a fix that was recently implemented, are you able to try:


    • Exporting one of the activities
    • Save the file to your desktop
    • Delete the activity from Garmin Connect
    • Re-upload the activity to verify that the fix works for you


    This issue seemed to be impacting mostly GPX and TCX files, any fixes that were deployed would apply to .fit files as well.
