Garmin Connect Settings Reverting Back To Default

Former Member
Former Member
An issue was reported, that affected all Garmin Connect users, where their User Settings would not save or would randomly revert back to the default settings (example 24 hour back to 12 hour time format).

This issue has been resolved with a Garmin Connect update that was pushed out yesterday afternoon (Central Time).

The fix should prevent users settings from switching back to the default settings and cause devices to change time or distance formats.

We recommend users check their users settings in Garmin Connect/Garmin Connect Mobile to ensure they are correct.
We appreciate all of the discussion in the forums regarding this issue, and apologize for any inconvenience.

    Garmin Connect tutorial video

Hi guys, is there a Garmin Connect tutorial video - how to use it - what u can do with it? I have been using different sport app - it was basic. I'm sure Garmin connect is more complex - so I cannot wait to have deeper understanding of it .

For example - can u have a "view" of your workouts (already done workouts) in calendar? I mean something like this? https://gyazo.com/cd37e5eb84c0b3de678a13a401299c4f

These are not planned workouts in advance - they simply occur on the calendar after the workout is finished. I have some difficulty to see the same feature on Garmin Connect.

It is just one of the things. But that tutorial video would be pretty helpful.

    Thanks

12 hour and 24 hour still not fixed, and now graphs have disapeared

    Hi,

The watch still reverts randomly to 12hour format.
The connect ios app settings for my Fenix 3 HR is set to 24 hours though.
So I don't believe this is fixed.

Also, since update, the graphs are not displaying the data anymore for the dates after the update.

    Any updates would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    What device are you using?

Some of the devices that use the ANT Stick to transfer activity data upload in a TCX format. There is currently an issue that has been escalated to the Garmin Connect team where TCX and GPX files are not displaying all the information correctly, including graphs.

If you are using one of the devices that uses TCX files this could be the issue that you are seeing. There has been some discussion of this issue in this thread:

The fix for this issue was pushed out to Garmin Connect last week, but we are investigating reports, like yours, where the time format is still changing back to the default setting. I do apologize that it is occurring, and we will hopefully have some more information soon.

    Any updates on this?
At least as to whether or not they have found what is causing this?

    Cheers
  • Keeps overwriting watch settings

    Hi there,

this is the way it misbehaves today and my workaround:

On July 29th iOS Garmin connect mobile overwrote my 920xt settings. At least 12/24 time format, Units and HR zones was affected. Maybe something else, what I am overlooking.
Too bad I did not realize the next day, on my half IM race, that my HR zones are messed up.

I changed the HR zones, etc. back on my watch, but during the next Bluetooth sync, Connect mobile overwrote it again.

Looking at my Garmin Connect mobile I realized, that the time format and units are set wrongly in my profile, so I set it to the right format and the units and time issue disappeared.

With the HR zones it is more tricky. It seems, that the connect mobile is pulling the data from http://connect.garmin.com and sadistically overwrites the watch settings without warning.

So I set manually the zones on http://connect.garmin.com. However it is not precise enough, because one cannot simply enter the BPM value for each zone. Only percents of max/LTHR/resting HR are allowed. It was a game of looking for best percent to near the number I need.

After this workaround during next sync, Garmin connect mobile again overwrote the watch settings, but now to the almost right configuration. "Almost" because I could not exactly match the HR BPM zone numbers.

Not fixed, but apparently Garmin working on it

I have problem with units settings. Right now everything is set to kilometers, and stay that way, on Garmin connect, on Garmin connect mobile android app, and on watch (Fenix 3hr). Previously, this was not the case on Garmin connect.

But in Garmin express, I always have one update, as shown on this picture .

If I follow the update it goes here and it's about this .

If I click save on Garmin connect, even it's obvious that nothing changed, it will sync settings about units along with settings about HR and power zones, also not changed.

It's annoying and I hope that Garmin software team will fix this.

The latest software updated pushed to my vivosmart HR is now preventing me from setting my heart rate page as the default display. I changed to step count in connect and sent that and the vivo stayed on step count but when I change back to heart rate, it changes the default back to date/time. Is this an issue with connect or with the vivosmart HR software. What is the fix?

    @mdlagas,

What you are experiencing with your vivosmart HR is an issue with the device not retaining that setting. That issues has been escalated to the device team for further investigation and resolution.
