Wrong timezone and time on 1 of 2 rides per day.

I have an edge 810 and am currently just commuting to and from work. I know, kind of overkill but whatever :p.

My morning ride shows the correct time and time zone.
Lets say 7:20am Pacific Time
My afternoon ride is an hour early and the wrong time zone.
3:30pm and Pitcairn Island Time.

In reality, my afternoon ride is 4:30 and still Pacific time.

However, on Strava, it shows the correct time.

Now I know I can edit the time and time zone, but it’s rather odd that my afternoon ride puts me on an island time zone in the South Pacific some 9000km away. And why is Garmin Connect wrong and not Strava? They both read the same file and get it from Garmin Express.

Anyone else get this?
  • Yes, I do too. I ride to work and I use an Edge 520.

My ride to work uploads correctly, it has the correct time and time zone (Central Australian Time, GMT+9:30). My ride home has been incorrect and has been put at Japan Standard Time (GMT+9:00) and the start time shifted back 30 minutes. Strava is still correct, as is TrainingPeaks. The start time on the unit is correct, it just gets screwed up on Garmin Connect, even though all my time zone settings are correct.

I am at a latitude of 35 degrees South of the equator and Japan is 35 degrees North of the equator.

I logged a job with Garmin, but haven't heard anything on how it is progressing.

I haven't been able to log to many commutes to work of late, too cold and wet for me.

Similar issue of the time being off (5 hours behind) on my uploaded walks. My preference is set to GMT-06:00 Central Time (US & Canada). I have to go in and change activity type to walk anyway, but it's frustrating to have to change the time as well, I import as a GPX file.

    Yours is a different issue.
  • I get this too

I get exactly this problem - ride to work (even if it's in 2 stages with a stop for a swim on the way) has the correct time zone. The ride home, on the same day, uploaded at the same time, has the wrong time zone

Did anyone every find a solution?
